My Passion for Design

Hi, I am Karen Miller, owner of Miller Design Group – Decorating Den Interiors and I’m excited to get to know you. Interior design and decorating have been my passion for longer than I can remember, or longer than I will ever admit. I was the child forever rearranging not only my bedroom, but any other room I could add my decorating point of view.

I started my career in design when I worked with a large Chicagoland residential developer assisting clients in selecting floor plans and design finishes, consulted on home building designs, and advised family and friends on creating rooms that reflect their style. For me, there is nothing better than working with my clients to help them make their home and lives more beautiful. I believe you should Love Where You Live!

My other great passions include my wonderful husband, you can affectionately call him Jimmy, and my two boys Gunnar and Remy – who just happen to be Golden Retrievers, and my security staff. I love anything outdoors; gardening, snowmobiling, skiing, hiking, boating, sailing, swimming, working out, yoga, and traveling. And when not binging on HGTV, you can find me watching the Food Network because I love to cook too!

I want people to get as excited as I am about making their home more beautiful while expressing their own personal style. By guiding you through our easy and convenient design process we will work together to create a beautiful and functional space. We want to make your home all that it can be. My initial consultation is complimentary, that is our time for me to get to know you, your style preferences and understand your vision – because the design is about you.

When I bring the design to your home, I will also present samples that align with your project’s scope. Whether it’s custom window treatments, bedding ensembles, flooring, wall coverings, accessories, lighting, upholstered furniture, or case goods, I provide a cohesive selection, eliminating the need for you to search for pieces on your own. Additionally, as a pet enthusiast, I specialize in designing stylish, functional, and pet-friendly spaces. If you ever need any ideas or inspiration for your projects, I’m here to help! Whether it’s finding the latest trends in home decor, or tips on pet-friendly materials, just let me know.

I take pride in working within my clients’ budgets and aligning with their style preferences, ensuring they only pay for the products they choose. I am a Certified Interior Decorator and have received my Professional Design School certification from Decorating Den Interiors. Miller Design Group serves Polk and Story Counties including the Ankeny, Waukee, West Des Moines, Johnston, Grimes, Urbandale, Des Moines, Beaverdale, Clive, Altoona, Polk City and Ames, Iowa areas.
